OUT WEST  | Black and White Cowgirl Series on Satin

My black and white series featuring original quotes painted with watercolor on satin material. I incorporate my original text into my work, for me the Lazy Cowgirl represents a sense of freedom and a desire to surround herself with those who wish to see her thrive and values beautiful places to nurture her soul. I write these mantras of the envisioned life I wish to live and hope they resonate with you.

I created this piece, Out West, in Aspen. I wanted to capture the vast sense of exploration I am filled with when I am surrounded by the landscapes out west. There is a romance in the mountains, a longing for a new horizon to bring you hope. The west will pull on your heart strings…

Artistic Process
Each painting is meticulously hand-painted on stretched satin. This medium requires precision and confidence, as the unforgiving nature of watercolor on satin means that with each brushstroke I must be deliberate and intentional as I write each word. I find words to breathe life into existence and I hope you resonate with the text from this series.

This series explores contemporary ideas of western heritage and landscapes out west through a poetic lens.
